FLAG GIVEN TO SCHOOL
Navy League Membership By Telegraph—Press Association MASTERTON, Nov. 11. On behalf of the Wellington Navy League, Captain Oliver, of the Naval Board, to-day presented a Union Jack to St. Matthew’s School'in recognition of the secondary department’s attaining a 100 per cent, membership of the Navy League. The large company present included Sir James Grose, Mrs L. Q. H. Tripp and other representatives of the Wellington Navy League, and Mr J. Robertson, M.P. In an address, Captain Oliver urged the need of defending Empire communications. He spoke of the Navy as a great force for peace with a fine record of humanitarian achievement, and declared algo that the maintenance of forces adequate to defend the Empire was a condition of its continued existence.
