Hardinge Road Foreshore; Street Improvements TO BE CONSIDERED Requests from the Port Ahuriri Progressive Association for various improvements at the Port were received at the meeting of tho Napier Borough Council last jight. With little discussion the matters were referred to the various committees of the council under whose jurisdiction they came. The requests made by the association are summarised as follow:—

(1) Painting of the Port Ahuriri reading room. (2) Provision of conveniences in the vicinity of the Port railway station, which is the ’bus terminus.

(3) What co-operation is the council prepared to enter into with the Harbour Board and the association with reference to obtaining a Marine Parade along the foreshore of Hardinge road I (4) Some members of the association are not favourably impressed with tho condition and design of the bathing sheds to bo removed from the Breakwater to Hardinge road and suggest that something after the design of tho tram sheds at Port Ahuriri and Shakespeare road would be suitable. (5) That Sixty-fifth street be continued into Denholm road.

(6) Information as to the name of the street between the back entranee of Bull Bros.’s property and the Harbour Board railway line, and asking who is the owner of the street.

(7) Improvements to Churchill street so that surface water will not cause a nuisance.

(8) The tar-sealing of the footpath between the Marine Bakery and the opposite side of Stafford street. (9) Asking if an improvement could be made to the heap of stones around the telegraph post by the Harbour Board office, which was erected as a War Memorial, and suggesting taking the stones away and making a safety zone for pedestrians.
