FAR EAST CRISIS
Shore Leave for British and U.S. Fleets Cancelled (Received 9, 9.30 a.m.) CANTON. June 8. Shore leave for British and American ileets in Far Eastern stations has been cancelled as a precautionary measure. Strenuous efforts are being made to compose the differences between the Nanking and Canton Governments. Japan’s attitude is described as "watchful and waiting.” She believes the southern movement is directed against Nanking rather than against Japan.
