BUDGET DISCLOSURE

Interest in Commons Debate on Tribunal’s Report LABOUR PRESSURE (British Official Wireless.) (Received 9, 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, Juno 8. Although tho main business before the House of Commons, which reassembles to-morrow, will be consideration of the Finance Bill iu committee, chief public interest in the proceedings of the current week will be centred on the debate, probably on Thursday, of tho report of the tribunal on the Budget disclosure. The executive of the Labour Party is considering the advisability of pressing the Government to introduce legislation to make impossible transactions of the kind disclosed in the report. Questions will probably be asked in the House of Commons regarding allegations in tho American Press, notably the news magazine "Time,” to the effect that the Budget charges were not the only leakages of confidential official information in the last few years (states a Press Association cable). "Time” alleges that similar leakages occurred over the British Government’s guarantee of Newfoundland bonds in 1933, when Mr J. H. Thomas was tho Dominions Secretary. Tho allegations have been cut out with scissors from all copies of "Time'’ selling at British bookstalls, but sufficient uncut copies reached England for the allegations to gain widespread currency, notably in the city. Many members of the House of Commons are urging that the Government’s best course is to investigate this and similar allegations and clean up matters onco and for all.
