Middlesex v. Notts.—Middlesex, first innings. 243 (Hendren 71; Larwood 6 for 55) ; second innings, 127 (Larwood 5 for 40, Voce 5 for 57). Notts, first innings, 148 (Keeton 84; Peebles 4 for 37, Robins 4 for 33); second innings 41 (Smith 6 for 12, Gray 4 tor 26). Middlesex won by 181 runs.
Lancashire v. Sussex.—Lancashire, first innings, 205 (Iddon 89; James Langridge 5 for 50); second innings, 7 lor 138 (declared). Sussex, first in. nings, 105 (Hopwood 7 for 55); second innings 4 for 239 (Cook not out 70). Sussex won by six wickets. Warwick v. Yorkshire.—Warwick first innings, 5 for 157 (declared) (Kilner 88). Yorkshire,, first innings, 2 for 90. The match was drawn.
Surrey v. Worcester. —Surrey, first innings, 116 (Jackson 4 for 42); second innings none for 21. Worcester, first innings 130 (Gover 5 for 58). Worcester won on the first innings. Gloucester v. Hampshire.—Gloucester, first innings 155 (Crease 5 for 60; second innings, three for 266. (Barnett 93, Hayes 89, Dacre 61). Hampshire, first innings 180 (Arnold not out 85). Hampshire won on the first innings. Northants v. Derby.—Northants, first innings 59 (Townsend four for 43); second innings 168 (Copson six for 24). Derby first innings 93 (Matthews five for 42); second three for 125. Derby won by seven wickets. A treacherous wicket aided Larwood. Bowljug at a remarkable pace, despite a short run, he took three for five and eventually five for 24 in 35 balls. In the second innings rising balls struck Hart on the face, necessitating temporary retirement, and Robins on the head, the crack of which was heard in the pavilion. Later he hit Compton on the body. He took three cheap wickets inside 20 minutes during the closing stages.
