Waipukurau v. Te Aute The first round of the Central Hawke’s Bay Rugby Sub-Union’s competition was completed on Saturday, when Te Aute met Waipukurau on Central Park. The teams lined up as follow: — Waipukurau (blue and white): McKay, Gibson, Whelan, T. Ferguson, Crapp, Dailey, Lovett, M. Ferguson, Lane, Earney, Murphy, Johnston, Brassell, Archer and McDougall. Te Aute (red and black): Tamahorr, Matthews, Northcroft, Ngaparu, Murray, Kaanga, Raimona, Tibble, Hikairo, Mackey, Porter, Raureti. Iharaira, Huata and Rangi. Timo was called with the scores: Waipukurau 6; Te Aute 6. Mr W. J. Phillips refereed. Scorers.—Te Ante (6): Matthews (try), Huata (penalty). Waipukurau (6); Carney (try), Whelan (try).
Old Boys v. Takapau Waipukurau High School Old Boys defeated Takapau B by 30—6. Waipawa v. Te Aute The Waipawa junior team was defeated by Te Aute College 34 —nil. The Bev. J. Hogg was referee. Waipawa v. Omakere The Waipawa senior team played a friendly match with Omakere, at Omakere. The Waipawa team was shorthanded and Omakere secured a win, nine — nil. Mr G. Harvey acted as referee.
