Mr. and Mrs. P. Guthrie From Our Own Correspondent. WAIPAWA, June 7. On Thursday evening Mr and Mrs P. Guthrie, who are leaving shortly to take up residence in Auckland, were the guests at a farewell gathering arranged by members of tho Waipawa Golf Club. The president, Mr N .J. McKay was in the chair. On behalf of members of both the ladies’ and men’s clubs, Mr McKay expressed regret at the departure of Mr and Mrs Guthrie, who had been enthusiastic members, but wished them success in their new venture.' On behalf of the clubs, he asked Mrs Guthrie to accept a handsome crystal bowl, and Mr Guthrie a smoker’s outfit and fountain pen. Mr F. M. Tiekner, on behalf of the business people of Waipawa, said it was with dejjp regret they had heard of the pending departure of Mr mid Mrs Guthrie, who had always been held in the highest esteem by the business community, and whose place it would indeed be hard to fill. Air D. H. Edwards endorsed the remarks of the previous speakers. Mr Guthrie in replying said they had spent six very happy years in Waipawa, and would always remember the many friends they had made.
