AN ART SCHOOL

Proposal for Napier Art in Napier has every prospect of receiving greater encouragement by reason of the Hawke’s Bay Arts Society’s proposal to establish an art school. If it is to he ft success, it must receive fuU support from all interested, and in was in respect of this point that the society’s secretary, Mr Leo Bestall, launched an appeal at the annual gen eral meeting. The election of officers for the 1936-37 year resulted us follows:--President, Mr hi Kettle; vice-presv dents, the Hon. W. E. Barnard, Messrs M. 8. Spence, T. M. Geddis and W. A. Penlington; council, Mesdames F. N. Harvey, W. P. Mitchell, Miss M. McKay, Messrs J. Tattersall, L. Tbealtstoue, A- B. Hurst; auditor, Mr C. D. Wilson.
