MINIATURE RIFLES

Hastings Club Opens The Season NEW TARGET IN USE On Wednesday night the Hastings Miniature Rifle Club held the first shoot of the 1936 .season when a tenshot match was arranged. The introduction of the latest target, which has a much reduced bull’s eye, affected the standard of scoring generally, though two members, L. E. Brathwaite and J. Sim, succeeded in registering splendid ‘‘possibles.’’ Quito a number of new members had their first experience with the sling and aperture sight, some of their scores being very promising. Of the new members, G. Davies (86) and R. Henry (85) were the most successful. The special trophy competition conducted at the “gallery” resulted in a win for W J. Burton by one point from J. Carmichael. The many improvements which have been effected at the range were very favouraOly commented upon, the introduction of ping-pong being particularly popular. Following are the scores in detail?— L. E Brathwaite 100, J. Sim 100, I. Robertson 99, J. Carmichael 98, W. J. Burton 97, F. Burton 97, E. Dutton 96, H. Campbell 96, G. Beattie 96, H. Brehaut 96. F.
