Mrs. H. Harris and Daughter Farewelled A large attendance of residents and friends assembled at the Pakowhai Hall on Thursday to bid farewell to Mrs. Harris and her daughter, Miss B. Harris, who are leaving the district. Mrs. Harris, who has resided in Pakowhai many years, has been an esteemed social worker, and her efforts in the past have been greatly appreciated. It was a most enjoyable evening, where all were out to make it a success. Games aud dances were indulged in, and musical items were given. Songs were rendered by the Misses White, Parker and Howard, and Mr. S. Holmes, violin and piano duets by the Misses White The competitions were won by Mr. S. Holmes and Mr. J. Harris and Alias I Harris. After a dainty supper, Mrs. Brunton, after a lew well-chosen words, requested Mrs. Curtin to present to Mrs. Harris an eiderdown quilt on behalf of the residents. Miss White then presented to Miss B. Harris, who is to be married in a lew days, an eiderdown quilt and a bedroom rug. Mr. J. Patrick, a former school master m the district, wished Miss Harris a happy married hie. Iho recipients, in responding, mentioned that Pakowhai had been their homo for many years, and what they had done lor the district had always given them pleasure. I hey were aceoidcd musical honours, and a most pleasant evening then came to an end with dancing.
