The cross-country horseman, C. Thomson, had a remarkably good day at Ellerslie yesterday. Out ot four rides ho was three times first, while in the Great Northern Steeplechase be was beaten By only half a length. He iodo Tangled to victory in the Hunt Club Cup, for which he received £lB for the ride. Clarion Call’s Remuera Hurdles win brought him £27, and second place in the Steeplechase on Forest Glow was worth £2B 10/- io hi>u, while he nas on Sporting Song in the Panmure Hurdles, his earnings for the race being £lB. From barrier to judge, Thomson nas riding 19 minutes 3,3 seconds, and his riding fees amounted to £35 10/-. which is over £4 a minute.
