STORE SHEEP PRICES

No Alteration at Stortford Lodge FARMERS HOLD OFF A much reduced yarding of store sheep was offered at Stortford Lodge yesterday, which is due to the recent downward trend in values. Where farmers have plenty of feed they are evidently holding off anticipating the mar ket to again improve. Values were un changed on late sales for good useful well-bred lines, with "farmers” lots selling firmly. Sheep off the road do not share in the same demand, and no improvement was shown on the recently reduced lines.

The following prices were offered for selected entries:— On account of Heid Estate, Puterino, 141 woolly wether white-faced lambs, in average store condition, realised 17/4. A line of 93 6 and 8-th ewes in Jarno to a Southdown rain, medium-i.amed and in fair store order, made 23/-. On account of tho Hon. H. A. Russell, a pen of 84 2-th ewes in lamb to a Southdown ram, from Apley, made 28/-. The pen was of nicely grown young sheep, being well woolled and in hardy forward store order.

A line of 342 4 and 6-th and 5-yr ewes, ex Morcre, in lamb to Southdown rams, being a fair to average entry, was passed at 21/9. Down from Morere, a line of 190 2-th wethers, in fair order, was passed at 20/9. On account of same vendor, 101 freshconditioned, fairly grown 2-th ewes, made 24/6.

A pen of 72 woolly wether lambs, fairly well grown and in averatge store order, was passed at 18/-. On account of Reid Estate, Puterino, 53 woolly ewe lambs, inclined to be small, made 22/9.

A pen of 56 6 and 8-th back-country ewes in lamb to a Southdown ram realised 22/7.

An average quality line of 92 5-yr owes in lamb to a Southdown ram, in fair store condition, made 21/-.

A pen of 40 fat and forward wellgrown wethers realised 25/6. A line of mixed-aged ewes in lamb to a Southdown ram, in light to medium store order, sold out at 19/-.

Down from Omakere, a pen of 69 woolly wether lambs of average size, made 17/2.

A line of 50 aged ewes, in light store order, were passed at 11/9. On account of W. S. McAuley, Sheren den, 50 5-yr ewes in lamb to a Southdown ram, well mouthed and in forward order, made 24/-.

On account of R. S. McAuley, Elsthorpe, 51 5-yr ewes in lamb to a Southdown ram, made 23/7. In froifi Te Nahanga, .167 Southdowncross lambs, which were small, made 12/9.

Down from Apley, 35 5-yr ewes in lamb Io a Southdow n ram, being in forward store condition, made 21/9. Ou account of D. G. Stewart, J'j 2-th wethers, small framed and in average store condition, made 21/8.
