WEDDING

Savage—Rutherford

The wedding took place on AVednesday evening at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Waipukurau, of William James, second son of Mr and Mrs M. Savage, Takapau, and Doreen Alay, elder daughter of Mr and Airs A. Butnerford, Takapau road, Waipukurau. The bride wore a charming bridal gown of deepest parchment ring velvet, fashioned on classic lines, with a high cowl neckline in front, caught on- each side with a diamante clasp. Tho long sleeves were closely shirred at the shoulder, and at the wrists into narrow cuffs. The skirt, cut on tho cross, fell into graceful folds to the feet, and parchment velvet shoes w r ere worn. A lovely veil of embroidered tulle, to tone with the gown, fell softly from a halo of orange blossoms. She carried a beautiful bouquet of cream roses and lilies. The Rev. W. R. Hutchison officiated at the ceremony, and Aliss M. King presided at the organ. During tho service the hymn, ‘‘The A’oice That Breathed O’er Edon” was sung by the congregation.

The church was beautifully decorated with Iceland poppies, tawny bronze

chrysanthemums, and autumn foliage. Air Rutherford escorted his daughter. Two maids attended, Miss Hazel Rutherford (sister of the bride), and Miss Inez Fryer, wearing gowns of turquoise and rose pink ring velvet respectively. Their gowns were fashioned alike, slim fitting to the knee and fully flared from knee to hem with inset shirred panels at the back and front. The corsage htd a softly draped neckline with a flat bow of silver lamo on each shoulder. The full elbow length sleeves were closely shirred at tno shoulders. They wore headbands of silver leaves and silver shoes, and carried bouquets of pink chrysanthemums, roses and heather with a touch of blue Each maid wore crystal ear-rings and necklace, the gift of the bridegroom. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr G. .Savage, Takapau, and Mr G. Clark, Hastings, was groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. The floral decorations were in blue and pink and suspended over the bridal table was a beautiful silver wedding bell. Air and Airs Rutherford welcomed the guests, Mrs Rutherford wearing n model gown of heavy maroon silk crepe having a deep lace yoke and a smart hat to tone. Her bouquet was composed of autumn tinted flowers.

AVhen the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon on a motor tour in the north, the bride travelled in n tailored Russian suit of brown angora tweed, brown coat having a high fur collar and hat, shoes and bag to tone.
