NEW POLO GROUND
Area Provided at Hastings Racecourse READY NEXT SEASON The Hawke’s Bay Polo Club has completed arrangements with the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club for the leasing of a playing-area in the centre of the Hastings racecourse. This area has now been surveyed, levelled and fenced in readiness for the forthcoming polo season. For the past 20 years the Polo Club has played all its club, tournament and inter-provincial games on its private grounds at Little Flaxmere, situated about 3) miles from Hastings. No fault could be found with the playing-area or accommodation, as the New Zealand Saville Cup fixtures have been played on the Little Flaxmere grounds on occasions, and all requirements have been easily met.
The reason for having the grounds in Hastings is solely the convenience of tho public, for Little Flaxmere is so far out of town and the expense of getting there prevents many from attending the polo there.
Tho racecourse will be used for all important games, but the little Flaxmere grounds will still be used for tho less important matches.
