Hastings Competition

ENTRIES CLOSE MAY 26 Already a number of entries for the Hastings Plunket Society's “Beautiful Baby Competition” have been received, and it is confidently expected that between now and the closing date, which is to bo May 26, there will be several hundreds. Similar competitions held by branches of the Plunket Society, notably in Wanganui, Dannevirke and Napier, have been immensely successful. and the fact that Hastings is just as generous as any of those towns when public appeals are made, and that Hastings babies are just as healthy and beautiful as any others, and have just as proud parents, should ensure the complete success of the . ...uiug competition. Other centres have raised as much as £3OO in a similar way.

Valuable prizes are being offered for each of the following six classes, ami there is a fee of sixpence payable with each entry:—(a) Photograph of the most beautiful child under six months, (b) photograph of the most beautiful child over six months and under twelve months; (c; photograph of the most beautiful child over twelve months and under two years; (d) photograph of the most beautiful child over two years and under four years; (e) photograph of the most beautiful child over four years and under six years; (f) photograph of the most beautiful twin* under six years. The competition is open to any child who has been at some time under the supervision of a Plunket nurse.

Old photographs are eligible, piovided the child is not more than 12 years of age at the present time, The prizes have been donated by Messrs. Baird. Blackmore. Alan Grant, Grieve, Haivey, Lovell-Smith, Westerman,' and various members of the committee.

The photographs must be in by May 26, accompanied by an entrance fee of 6d per photograph. Entry forms ore obtainable from the Plunket Nurse, all chemists or from Messrs. Lovell-Smith. Rolf Keys and Poole, who will take the photographs—if new ones are required—for tho turn of 4/6. The exhibition will be displayed at Mr. 11. W. C. Baird’s and Messrs. Westerman and Co., from Saturday, May 30, to Saturday, June 13 (inclusive). The votes aro to be charged at Id each, and the photograph in each class gaining tho greatest number of votes wins the prize.
