HIGH SCHOOL EX-GIRLS

First Monthly Meeting The Hastings branch of the Napier Girls’ High School Ex-Girls' Association held its first monthly meeting on Tuesday evening in the G.F.S. room, when a very jolly time was spent. During the evening four one-act plays were read and very much enjoyed. They were; “The Pump,” by Mary Kelly; “Mother Superior,” by Janet Ling; “Lardy Cake,” by Ida Gandy; “Fleurette and Co,” by Essex Dane. Those reading parts were: Mcsdame o O. Campbell, J. Banks, J. K. Agnew, H. Fisk and Misses Peggie Hall, Joan Tucker, Zita Tucker, Francis Beck, Paula Shattky, Dulcie Carr, Inez Garnett, Githa Pickett, Kitty Milne. Margaret Marshall, Valda Tong aud Nola Robertson. Miss Margaret Marshall sang “When Song is Sweet” and “Lie There, My Lute,” which were very much appieciated. A competition causing much brain fag was won by Miss Kathleen Johnston. At the end of the evening a dainty supper was served. The lovely birthday cake iced in blue and gold to represent the High School badge and complete with two gold candles, as it was the association’s second birthday, was piesented by the president, Miss S Wellwood, and was later cut Mention was made at the evening that in view of the approach of the forthcoming J. C Williamson Co.’s season, the plays “Fresh Fields” and “The Shining Hour” will be road by members of the association on May 12 and 19. Apologies for non-attendance were received from Misses Dorothy Garland, Harley Bates, Joan Hall, Florence Parkinson, Olive Tully and Molly Byrne. Among those present were: Miss S. Wellwood (president), Mrs H, Fisk (chairwoman). Miss Kathleen Johnston (secretary). Mesdames H. Parry, C. Campbell, J Banks, J. K. Agnew, Misses Joan Tucker, Peggie Hall. Paula Shattky, Molly Alexander, Margery Taylor, Jean Robson, Mabel Robson, Inez Garnett, Zita Tucker, Margaret .Marshall. Nola Robertson, Francis Beck, Dulcie Carr, Betty Bunting, Valda Tong, Joan LovellSmith, Kitty Milne and others.
