USE FOR ELM LEAVES
Essence for Explosives SYDNEY, April 22. A new use for the decaying elm leaves which litter the streets of Bacchus Marsh, near Ballarat, has been found and an element of secrecy is in volved in the method of treatment. It is understood that the dead leaves are consigned to a factory at Richmond where an essence is extracted, ostensibly for lung complaints. It can also be used in a deadly high explosive, which, it is reported, is be ing exported to Germany.
