DISPERSAL SALE

“Jersey Oaks” Stud “Jersey Oaks” is one of the oldest established Jersey studs in the Dominion and is well known for its many successes in the show-rings. The herd was founded from the very best imported stock, the first sire used being Liryclear Lad VI. (imp.), who had an unbeaten career in the show-ring in the Auckland, Waikato, and Manawatu districts. Six females were also purchased at a cost of over 700 guineas, including the well-known dairy champion Nebula. The first of Liryclear Lad Vl.'s progeny was Liryclear Maid, C.O.R. 5411b5. of fat and considered one of the greatest cows of her time. The owner, Mr Garlies Milligan, ot Mangateretere, Hawke’s Bay, has found it necessary to call a dispersal sale owing to his ill-health and impending departure from the district. Numerous successes have come to the purchasers of Jersey Oaks stock. Jersey Oaks Silver Prince won for Mrs Spiers over 22 championships in the Manawatu, Levin, Wanganui and Waikato districts. The progeny of sires purchased from the herd have been most successful, including Majesty’s Girl and Majesty’s Golden Pet (two v.h.c. cows in Dr. Walker’s Whangarei stud), Whimsey, Hawke’s Bay champion and Royal Ribbon winner at the New Zealand Royal Show, 1935. A yearling daughter of Jersey Oaks, Princess Eve, was also a prize-taker ai the last New Zealand Royal Show. The rising yearling heifers are outstanding and include the 1936 Hawke’s Bay Autumn Show winner. Breeders and others in search of high-quality Jerseys are strongly recommended to attend this sale, which will be held at the farm, Mangateretere, two miles from Hastings, on Hie Napier main road on Thursday, April 23, commencing at 11 a.m. sharp. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., are the auctioneers, and buying orders can be executed by one of the company’s stud stock experts, who will be attending the sale.
