Unrestricted Italian Advance

LONDON, March 15.

Asmara telegrams confirm reports of an unresisted Italian advance through submissive tribesmen on a 230-mile iront across northern Abyssinia. The First Corps, on the left, is moving from Amba Alagi towards Lake Ashangi; the Third Corps, in the centre, is moving towards Socota, and mixed columns, on the right, are marching along the Sudan border towards Nogara, 30 miles south of the Setit river, flanking the advance of the Fourth Corps through Woldenna, west of the Takazze. The Second Corps is in Tsellemti. north of the Semien Ranges. Addis Ababa messages say that Has Ebada, ex-Governor of Dessie, has taken over the command and is reorganising Has Mulugheta’s army north east of Amba Alagi. Mr Jesus Afewerk, after a conference with Haili Seilassie, has gone to Geneva on a secret mission. Italy has called up the 1915 class—--260,000 conscripts. The total number under arms is 1,250,000.
