ABYSSINIAN FEARS

OVERSHADOWING ISSUE Sellassie Grows Impatient DECISIVE SANCTION SHELVED Tslecraph—Preaa Aaan.—Copjriabt.s (Received 10. 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, March 15. “The Times” Addis Ababa correspondent, in a copyright message, says: “Royal circles here fear that the Powers at the League Council meeting on Monday, in the absence of the Abyssinian delegate, may speedily end the Italo-Abyssinian dispute by imposing an armistice On so-called commonsense peace terms upon the belligerents in view of the Locarno situation. Any such tactics will be strenuously resisted by ths Abyssinian representatives in Europe.

“There is a change in Haili Seilassie’s attitude towards the League and the European Powers,” adds the correspondent: “he still devoutly supports collective security, but his outlook is altering in view of what he considers to be the League’s disgraceful procrastination in applying sanctions capable of stopping the war—namely, financially assisting Abyssinia and placing an embargo on all war materials necessary to Italy.

“Haili Sellassie is becoming an Ethiopian of the old warlike type, eager to get into fighting order to destroy the Italian or to die like a Negus. His communications with delegations are becoming more impatient. His dealings with the West will end if Erance and Italy attempt to raise the Abyssinian issue in London when bargaining for support against Germany, and if the other Powers accept such views.’’
