MR. COATES IN ACCIDENT
Cars Meet Head On
(By Telegraph - Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 16.
The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates narrowlyescaped injury when the small sedan motor-car that he was driving collided with another car on the main north road near Giorif, about 13 miles north of Kaukapakapa, shortly before 11 on Saturday morning. Mr. Coates who was accompanied by his wife, was travelling from his home nt Matakohe to the Kunieu show. The collision occurred al a dangerous bend in the road, Mr. Coates’s machine being struck head-on by a large sedan-car travelling north and driven bv Air. N, A. Gazzard, commercial traveller. Accopipanying Mr Gazzard was his sis-ler-in-law. Both cars were extensively damaged and had to he removed by break down wagons. The occupants escaped with bruisings and a severe shaking. They were given first aid T.y lorn! residents, Mr. and Mrs II Dye, who later Iml; Mr and Mrs Coates to the show in tlieir own motor ear Mr. Coates arrived in Auckland to-day, and- left for the south by the Limited express thia evening,
