Boyle—Horne

A wedding of widespread interest was solemnised at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Wanganui, when Phyllis Joyce, youngest daughter of Mr P. Horne and the late Mrs Horne, “Te Akatea, ” Wanganui, was married to Gordon Thomas, eldest son of Mrs Boyle and the late Mr Boyle, Hastings. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Paterson, and the organ was played by Mrs J. Emmett. A solo was rendered by Mrs D. W. Brown.

The bride, who entered the church with her father, Mr P. Horne, wore a graceful gown of ivory souple satin and silver lame with an oval train over which fell an exquisite veil (lent by Mrs H. Dyke), which was caught with a pearl coronet and orange blossoms. She carried a sheaf of Madonna lilies. The Misses Z. Coppins and M. Larsen accompanied the'bride, and were gowned alike in pretty frocks of delphinium blue shadow lace fashioned with prettily shaped sleeves, cowled neck-lines and finished with oval train. They wore blue mittens and silver coronets with silver shoes to match and carried bouquets in shades of blue and pink with silver trailers. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr C. Boyle, Hastings, brother of the bridegroom, and the groomsman was Mr F. Jone's, Wanganui. As the bridal party left the church the bride was presented with two silver horse-shoes, one by Ngarena Chambers and the other by Katherine Newman. At the reception held subsequently, the bride’s sister, Mrs T. Boyle, was gowned in blue and pink floral georgette and wore a blue picture hat. She carried a posy of pink roses. The bridegroom’s mother, Mrs A. Boyle, was attire<j in a gown of wine satin beaute, with hat to tone and carried a posy of wine roses.

Later Mr and Mrs G. T. Boyle left on a motor tour to Hawke’s Bay. The bride was wearing a brown smartly tailored costume, musquash coat, accessories to tone. Their home will be in Taumarunui.
