Haumoana Birthday

u.unge Iceland poppies and spring flowers by tin. gardening circle, on the occasion of the Institute’s fifth birthday. The hall was well filled with members and iriends.

After the usual business, Alesdames Riggir and Horn spoke on the aims and ideals of the movement. After the competition, which was won by Airs Somerville, the meeting settled down to enjoy the birthday party.

llaumoana members welcomed the •visitors with a haka. The native mats were very much admired. The visitors from Havelock then staged two playettes, “Alechanical Jane” and “Little Glass Houses”. Both were thoroughly enjoyed by the audience, “Alechanical Jane” being a great success. The Alisses Glenny sang two duets, “Lullaby” (Brahms), “Cherry Ripe’’ (Horn). Airs Gataby delighted the audience with “Oh Flower Divine” and “Sweetest Flower that Blows”. The concluding item was a humorous sketch by Alesdames AlcCarthy and Neilson,

During the interval afternoon tea was served, the birthday cake being cut by the president, Airs Seeker, and handed round.

After tea a small presentation was made to Airs R. Wilson on her departure from the district, Mrs Seeker expressing the regret of the members at losing so useful a committee members.
