Ongaonga Birthday
The Ongaonga Women’s Institute celebrated its ninth birthday on Thursday evening with a concert and dance in the Town Hall. There was an exceptionally large attendance, the hall being crowded. Mrs Haldane, president, extended a cordial welcome to the visitors. The evening opened with the Institute Song, after which a programme of allround excellence was presented. Songs were rendered by Alesdames Sullivan, Carter, Yardley and Murray, and Aliss Carter; Highland fling by Freda Turnbull; recitation by Dorothy Graham;
character sketches by Misses Major, Dixon and Tierney.

Vvorsnup, ana iced by Mrs lierney, was then brought lorward and cut by Mrs (drain, pieces being distributed to all present, vo.ugratu.auons were offered by Mrs Bromerl on behalf of the VVaipukurau Institute, by Miss Allen on behalf of Hatuma, and by Mrs Brassington on behalf ot Tikokino.
For the dance that followed music was provided by Mr and Mrs Pedersen, Mesdames Maefcie and Barlow. A lucky lox-trot was won by Mr and Mrs Walters.
Much credit is due to the secretary of the institute (Mrs L. Carr) and the committee for the splendid manner in which the function was organised.
