Pukehou Social Evening There was a large attendance at the Pukehou School hall on Thursday last, the occasion being the Pukehou Women’s Institute’s annual social evening for husbands and brothers. Business was dispensed with. The president, Mrs Campbell, extended a.warm welcome to the visitors. The evening opened with the Institute Ode, followed by a community sing. A sketch entitled “The Bathroom Door” was cleverly impersonated and added to the success of the evening. Special thanks are extended to the following for taking part: “Prima Donna,” Miss Sinclair; “The Young Man,” Mr Mac Schultze; “The Young Lady,” Miss Quinlivaa; “Elderly Lady,” Miss Me Glashan; “Elderly Gentleman,” Mr Bruce Turley; “The Boots,” Miss E. Kitt. Miss Dean’s whistling solos and Mr Mac. Schultze’s mouth organ items were thoroughly appreciated and responded to encores. Miss Joan Cotterill’s recitations were listened to with interest and were very much applauded. The “Hula” by Messrs George Gray and Mac Schultze caused general amusement and encores. A dainty supper was served by the committee. The social programme eontinned with Miss Dean’s impersonating Graeie Fields, followed by another en joyable whistling solo. Two competitions were held. Guessing the names of the committee parading in fancy dress was keenly contested and caused much laughter. Trimming a hat resulted in Messrs Searle Priest securing first, Norman Ryder secern' and Harvey Ryder third. Special thanks to Mr <T. Campbell for playing the accompaniments and to nil who helped make the function a success. The evening ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
