Sparks from Locomotives INQUIRY IN THE NORTH (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 25. The Morningside timber mill fire inquiry was continued to-day', when evidence was given by the company’* officers that protests had been made to tho Railway Department prior to the tiro in December, one concerning the continued danger of eparks from locomotives. It was also stated that the book value of the buildings and plant destroyed was £15,000, and that the estimated value was £12,377. The insurances, including that on stock, just exceeded £lO,OOO. Tho company had received £5023 in insurance payments since tho fire.
