Meeting at Sherenden At the monthly meeting of the Sherenden Women’s Institute, Mrs T. Dysart presided over a good attendance of members. The resolutions for the Dominion conference were dealt with. Mrs Attwood is the institute’s delegate. A vote of condolence was passed to Mrs W. Dysart in her recent sad bereavement. The roll-call for the day was “Read, sing, say, or penny pay,” after which there was a very interesting debate on “The girl of to-day, versus the girl of twenty-five years ago.” The latter side won. After afternoon tea was served, the competitions were judged. In the competition for plain white scones, there was a good number of entries. Mrs Tressider was first, Miss Doole second, Mrs T. Dysart third and Mrs Whyte fourth. In tho junior members’ competition for best knitted jumper or cardigan, Miss Doole was first. Miss Attwood second and Miss M. Chittendon third. Some garments for the Red Cross were received.
