LONG-DISTANCE RECORD

France’s Southern Cross FLIGHT OF 2812 MILES (Received 24, 11.50 a.m.) PARIS, June 23. The four-engined flying-boat Croix du Sud landed at Zingishor, Senegal, from Cherbourg, 2812 miles. Subject to official confirmation, this gives France the world’s distance records for land and sea planes. The Croix du Sud, which has crossed the Atlantic four times, descended 250 miles short of its objective, Knoakri, though having flown sufficiently far to beat the Italian record of 2567 miles.
