PARIS HOTEL MURDER
Man & Woman Sentenced BRUSSELS, June 22. Pierre Nathan, the son of a wealthy Brussels manufacturer, was sentenced to 20 years’ impritonnient and his companion, Marie Gerin, to 15 years, for the murder of Madame Level in a Paris hotel last year. Nathan told the Court how he and Marie had a gay time in Paris, spending recklessly, until they were almost penniless. He alleged that Marie then persuaded him to pay attention to Madame Lercl, whom he met at a dance. Nathan lured her to the hotel anil attacked her with a sponge soaked in chloroform. Then, when she was unconscious, he placed her undressed in a bath and turned on the taps. He gave Marie the victim’s jewels and furs valued at £lOOO. The couple fled to Belgium, where there is no death penalty Nathan alleged that Marie drove him to murder. She denied responsibility.
