Competition Series Those interested in hockey were treated to some exciting matches in Napier and the surrounding district on Saturday afternoon. Details of the various matches are given below:— SENIOR MEN SCINDE BEAT TARADALE Hard hitting was the main feature in the Scinde v. Taradale match, played at Taradale and won by Scinde by four points to three. Taradale drew first blood when Dan Hill finished off an offensive movement. Just before the half-time whistle Vercoe scored for Scinde. In the second half Scinde had the better of play and emerged victorious after a hard-fought game. Vercoe scored again and Manning scored twice for Scinde. while Williams scored Taradale ’s other two goals. Messrs Atkinson and Hallett refereed. EASY WIN FOR KIWIS Kiwis gained a comfortable win against Waratahs, who up till now have been a Thursday team. Despite a solid opposition, Waratahs put up a stout defence. For the winners goals were scored by Cross (4), McCutcheon (3), and Tucker. Manson and Carver scored for Waratahs. The following are the results of other matches played:— SENIOR WOMEN. Clive (1) v. Taradale (1). Napier (5) v. Te Awa (nil). Marama beat Tech. O.G. by default. JUNIOR SECTION WOMEN’S MATCHES. Taradale (1) v. Napier (nil). Westshore (4) v. Te Awa (nil).
