Hastings Townswomen Meet The literary and play-reading circle of the Hastings Townswomen's Guild held the June meeting on Thursday in the G.F.S. Hall. Airs Riley welcomed new members and apologised for absent ones. The entertainment for the afternoon was “Modern authors.” Miss Commin read several extracts from the writings of David Grayson. Mr* Jackson followed with “A Lantern in Her Hand,” by Bess Streeter Aldrich. Quiller Couch show’s the human touch in. “Omnibus,” which was read by Mrs Deans. Aliss Rigg was the next reader, choosing John Masefield, the Poet Laureate. This was a very interesting subject, and if njembers had not been familiar with the different authors they heard enough to encourage them to procure the books.
