HOME LEAGUE MEETING

On Wednesday afternoon a good atendance of Home League members and friends were present at the Salvation Army Young People's Hall, Hcrctaunga street. Mesdames Price and Neilson were the leaders for the afternoon, and opened the meeting with a very old favourite hymn, followed by prayer. Mrs Plumly then called the roll, a text being repeated by members.

Afternoon tea was handed round by the hostess, Mrs Venables, and several helpers. Mrs Hickmott, one of the league members, gave a talk on her experience as a Salvation Army officer, telling li ow in the early days she entered the Salvation Army garrison to be trained as an officer, but that owing to illhealth she was forced to resign. She experienced many hardships, and walked many miles to attend her meetings at far-away outposts. Airs Hickmott gave several humorous skits which amused the members and .made her talk very interesting. Mrs Hickmott served eight years as an officer, having during that time accepted 12 different positions.

At the conclusion, Mi’s Neilson thanked Mrs Hickmott for her address.

The meeting then closed with a prayer. Next week’s meeting will be a social afternoon with competitions, the leaders being Mesdames Price and Neilson. It will also be the first pound day for the league grocery box. All members are asked to contribute if possible.
