LADIES’ GUILD
Meeting at Taradale
The June meeting of the Taradale Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild took the form of a social afternoon, to which members and friends of other churches were cordially invited. In spite of wintry conditions the attendance was beyond expectations and included visitors from Napier. The meeting opened with the singing of the Doxology. Mr Williamson presided and welcomed the guests on behalf of the Ladies’ Guild. He explained that the main object of the gathering was to increase a good social atmosphere. The following performers contributed to a delightful programme: Mesdames W. Moir, R. W. Kelly, T. McDonald, the Rev. J. W. Martin and the Misses Joan and Nancy Irvine.
An interesting competition, based on guessing parts of the body from suggestive phrases, was won by Mrs T. Campbell (Napier). The floral decorations were especially attractive, having been exquisitely carried out by Mesdames W. Moir and H. W. Brown. A sumptuous afternoon tea was provided by the Ladies’ Guild and supervised by Mesdames Montgomery and Steven. Towards the close of the proceedings, Mr Williamson thanked the performers and all who had in any way helped to make the afternoon so successful.
The function concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
