Itinerant Traders
(To the Editor). Sir, —May I be permitted to inquire into the points raised in your footnote to a letter in your issue of June 21 re “Itinerant Traders.’’ If the proposed fee of £25 or more is levied will it affect the general hawkers? In what way will I lie Chamber of Commerce distinguish legally the difference between itinerant traders and hawkers? Is there any definite proof that the goods sold by itinerant traders at cut prices are ini'rior to those sold by local tradespeople? Does not the landlord ■who rents his shop or room to these itinerant traders pay wages, rents and rates, and otherwise support the town per medium of these traders? —Yours, etc., J. S. HANNAH. June 22, 1935.
