WORKING WOMEN
Hastings Movement Meets There was a good attendance at the first meeting of the Working 'Women's Alovement held under the new name. The women were very enthusiastic about the proposed magazine, and realised what a splendid factor it would be in a national campaign for better conditions. An invitation to send delegates to a meeting to be held Napier on June 31 for the purpose of arranging a conferenco in Hawke’s Bay of Friendship of the Soviet Union was left in abeyance until next Tuesday. The Black and White fish shop won the competition. Afternoon tea was dispensed by Miss Betty Clancy. The representative from the Unemployed AVomen and Girls’ Committee reported that another £5O was to be asked for. This information was received with satisfaction. The members were urged to send their experiences or criticisms to their own paper, as it is only by the widest possible publication that people who have not been affected by the depression can get to know the heartbreaking burden that is being put on our New Zealand women to-day. Purely local questions must give way to national ones.
