TEACHERS’ EXCHANGES
“Outbreak” of Applications Three teachers in the district controlled by the Hawke’s Bay Education Board have made application for an exchange with an. English teacher. Mr 0. W. Williams, at Patutahi, sought tho endorsement of bis application for an exchange with a teacher in England or Canada; Mr V. I. Curry, of Waipnkurau, applied for au eehange with mi English teacher; and Mr E. 8. Clarke, of To Karaka, made a similar application. They were considered at the board meeting this morning. The senior inspector, Mr T. A. Morland, said that while he approved the principle of exchanges, there seemed to be an “outbreak” of applications, and the teachers concerned were good. He did not wish to preclude their going, but thought there should be a limit. The secretary said that the Department of Education would select only six from the w’ ole of the Dominion, and the exchanges would not occur, for twelve months, so the hoard endorsed Itbe applications, as the result of the senior inspector’s recommendation.
