MO PROPER WAGES BOOK
Hastings Butcher Fined £lO On the information of Mr A. E. Wood, Inspector of Awards, J. B. I'letcher, Hastings, butcher, was proceeded against in the Hastings Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon before Mr J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., on the following charges: (1) With making false entries in a wages and time book; (2) employing two men on a statutory half holiday; (3) not keeping a propex wages and time book. The inspectoi also claimed £2O damages for breaches of the award for employing a higher 1 loportion of boys to men than is allowed by the Act. Mr C. Duff appeared for Fletcher, who pleaded not guilty to all charges. Prior to calling evidence in support of his case, .Mr Wood stated that eu deavouts had been repeatedly made to get I'letcher to comply with the pro visions of the Act, but v ilh little avail. Mr Wood said that i'letcher kept his records in such a way as to make ai. inspection extremely difficult. After hearing evidence His Worship convicted and fined I'letcher £lO for not keeping a proper wages and time book. The charge of making false entries in the wages and time book was dismissed. For employing two men on the statutory half holiday. I'letcher was convicted and discharged. The claim for damages urns v. it lidrr.w n.
