A ragged old fellow, charged at Mel bourne with stealing a tin of tobacco from a grocer's shop owned up, but pleaded that he was an old smoker and sometimes when he had no money suffered acutely from “tobacco-hun-ger.” So when he went to the grocer’s to make sonic small purchase and saw the tobacco on the counter the tempta tion proved irresistible, ami ho fell for it; Taking Ms age into account and that he was unknown to the police the magistrate discharge,] him with a caution.
