Good Competition Yesterday LAMBS REALISE 24/6 A moderate entry of fat sheep met a steady rise at Stortford Lodge yesterday, with better sorts of ewes showing a rise of 1/- to 1/6 a head, poorer sheep being ou a par to slightly improved Lambs and wethers sold at rates much on a par with recent sales, although a few top pens of Jambs recorded a rise in values. Local butchering interests were chiefly buying, but export operators were bidding and eecured a number of suitable pens. The bulk of the entry however sold locally. A selection of the entries and prices paid is as follow:— A line of 56 wethers, medium framed and well finished passed at 23/3. Six well finished wethers sold at 23/-. as did several other small pens. Two weighty prime Romney crossbred lambs sold at 24/6 Three blackface lambs, well grown and finished, made 21/6, two heavier lamhs ■selling at 22/6. An Otane entry of seven blackface lambs realised 19/7. Twenty-three light blackface lambs made 16/-. In from Elsthorpe, sixteen ewo. well grown, chiefly young sheep, in prime order, sold at 21/-. Three prime maiden ewes met the market at 22/6. Freezing-weights, a line of 60 ewes made 14/1. Light to medium finished, a lino of 39 ewes sold at 13/11. Twenty well grown and finished ewes young sheep, made 20/-. A pair of Southdown two-tooth ewes, medium framed and finished, realised 19/6.
