Cattle Prices Variable FAT SHEEP EASIER There were smaller entries of cattle and fat sheep at to-day’s sale at Waipukurau, and a moderate entry of aim, sheep. Cattle prices were somcwlia. variable, the quality ol the offering being poor. Fat sheep, with only mod. crate outside competition, were slightly down on last week’s rate. The store sheep market opened well, prices generally being on a parity with lute values, with vendors ’limits somewhat higher on several lines. In consequence, there were some passings, particularly of wethers. Some of the entries and prices paid, from which an idea of the sale may be obtained, were as follows:— STORE SHEEP, A line of 171 fattening ewes, fairly framed, carrying store to tor ward order, realised 10/9. A line of 287 2 to 4-tooth we the:.-, well grown, fairly woolled, in goon order, passed at 18/1. A pen of 155 2-tooth wethers, wc II framed, forward condition, nicely woolled, passed at 21/«. A draft of 272 wethers, medium framed, carrying good store order, passed at 18/2, A pen of 144 6-tooth ewes, in from and on account of Ngahere Station, all station-bred and one age mark, late shorn, medium framed, fairly evenly woolled and in active store older, met good competition, to sell at 22/9. Two hundred 4-year-old ewes, in from a Porangahau vendor, mixed in the wool, with stronger types predominating, fairly framed, store conditioned and active, made 22/10. A station-bred line of 212 2-tooth ewes, in from and on act unt of Waikare Station, medium framed, mixed in the wool, in active store order, passed at 23/7. A line of 274 5-year ewes, with a proportion of younger sheep included, in from the Mangaorata district ami on account of Mr. Hill, fairly well mouthed, mixed in the wool, and as to condition, medium to well framed, realised 20/-.
A draft of 347 mixed, aged ewes, down from the Gwavas district, mixed in size and condition, mixed in the wool, made 18/4.
