MANY TROPHIES OFFERED FIRST FUNCTION SINCE 1931. From Our Own Correspondent. WAIPUKURAU, Jan. 8. Entries for the Waipukurau A. and P. Society’s show, to be held at the racecourse on January 23, promise to be highly satisfactory. The function is the first to be held since 1931. Entries are to close with the secretary, Mr G. Reg. Cook, at 8 o ’clock this evening. The function this year is to be held on a grand scale and should attract a large crowd of visitors from Hawke’s Bay and other districts. In addition to the fat sheep and lamb show, it will include a gymkhana and axemen’s carnival. The generous support given by Hawke’s Bay residents has assisted the society to a great extent. A display of the various trophies may be seen in Messrs Wharmby and Williams’ office, Ruataniwha street, Waipukurau. Thu following is a list of these trophies and their donors:— HORSE SECTION. Best pony, 13 hands and under, Air W. Matthews’ Challenge Cup. Pony jump, 14 hands and under, Mr N. Kettle’s Challenge Cup. Open jumping competition, gentlemen riders, Dr. C. Raymond’s Challenge Cup. SHEEP SECTION. Southdown rams, 1 shear, Messrs W. Armour and Co., Lt.d’s Challenge Cup. Ten 2-tooth ewes, Romney or Romney cross, C. E. and J. H. Nairn’s perpetual Challenge Cup. Most points fat sheep, Mr C. Pattison's Challenge Cup. Three fat wethers, any breed, Messrs Wharmby and Williams’ Challenge Cup. Ditto, lambed since 1-7-33, H.B. Farmers’ Meat Coy’s. Challenge Cup. Ditto, Loudon judging. H. Fitter and Son, Ltd’s. Challenge Cup. Most points fat lambs, Co-op. Wholesale Society, Ltd’s., Challenge Cup. Three fat freezing lambs, local judging, Mr F.
