Some months ago the Maunganui, on her way from Papeete to San Francisco with Mr. Zane Orey aboard, sighted a similar animal, which Mr. Grey described ns 50 feet long nnd 10 feet across tho nose. The ship’s doctor says that the animal struck on the present trip was the same one, or similar. Mr. Grey first said the monster was a whale, but afterwards said it was not a whale, but a great fish.
