COMING-OF-AGE PARTY

NAPIER GIRL HONOURED. There was a very bright and happy gathering at the Community Hall, Napie. on Thursday evening, the occasion being the coiuing-oi-age el Miss I'lorrie Wilson, daughter of Mr and Mrs John Wilson, Eniield road, Napier. Hie hall was tastefully decorated with festoons ot coloured paper streamers, with a large coloured paper bell lornung the centre. The supper tables were well arranged and they also weie prettily decorated, as well as being laden with a host of appetising dainties. Prominent amongst these was the large birthday cake, winch had been made by the guest of honour and which was surmounted by 21 candles. '1 lie guests, all intent on happy enjoyment indulged in dancing, music, games, and amusing competitions, and spent delightfully pleasant evening. Mr Sheaier made a most ellieieut mastei of ceremonies and toastmaster. The toasts of “The King’’, “The guest of honour'’, ‘‘Parents”, ‘‘Absent Friends” were honoured enthusiastically. The speakers both in connertio i with the proposing of the toast, and the responses were commendably brief. Mr Wilson, on handing to his daughter the customary iatch-ke\ expressed the hope that the key would open the door to health, bappmgness and prosperity for the ■ecipient A motor-car naming competition was won by Miss Olive Terris; Miss M Rigby won an advertisement guessing competition aftei a tie with Mrs Garrett; while Miss Sligh and Mr Pidgeon won a very amusing event, a paper chase. The guest of honour. Miss F. Wilson, was dressed in a very becoming pink taffeta frock with coat of taffeta of the same tone Amongst the guests were;—Miss Sligh, blue lace; Miss B. Stack, black satin, with red velvet coat; Miss E. Bennett, black velvet; Miss Dorothy Johnson blue organdie; Miss [l. Wilson, blue taffeta; Miss K. Stack, green georgette; Miss M. Rigby, black satin, Miss I! Sewell, blue spotted muslin; Miss Terris, green voile; Miss Daphne Johnson, black georgette and lace, Miss Walters, blue velvet; Mrs Shearer blue crepe, with velvet cape. Others present were Mrs John Wilson (mother of the guest of the evening). Mrs Garrett, Mrs Arthur. Mrs W. Scott Miss Betty Scott, ami Miss If. Wilson. Mrs Rawle, Mr John Wilson (father of the guest of the evening), All Jas. Wilson (uncle), Mr Shearei. Mr Garrett, Mr J. Milne. Mr Arthur. Mr F. Parnell. Mr AV. Scott, Mr G Russell. Mr W. Wilson. Mr Bull, M. P. Wright. Mr Gosling. Mr J Edwa’ds Mr Rawle. Mr Garnham, Mr Willis, Mr Pidgeon. and Mr Etheridge. During the evening musical selections were given, and Mrs Rawle and Mr Etheridge played for some of the dances A particularly jolly party, in which the popularity of the guest of honour was very evident, was brought to a close with the customary ‘‘Auld Lang Syne.”
