SPORTS CLUB’S JUBILEE TENNIS SECTION PREPARES. From Our Own Correspondent. WAIPAWA, August 17. I The annual general meeting of the tennis section of the Waipawa Sports Club was held on Thursday evening, the president, Air D H. Edwards, being in the chair. The report as presented by the secretary was adopted. In placing the report before the meeting the president stated that this was the forty-ninth annual meeting of the club, and that the jubilee tournament would be held in January next, this' being tho first jubilee tournament to be held in New Zealand. The election of officers resulted as follows President, Air D. H. Edwards (re-elected); secretary, Mr N. Rapiey (re-elected); general committee, Aliss d’Emden, Aliss A. Britten, Messrs AlacPherson, S. Rust, G. Knobloch, V. llobin; open tournament committee, .Messrs Trevor Block, H. C. Collett, E. W. Jull, Gould and Sawyer; delegate, Mr R. H. Aliiburn (reelected). In connection with the jubilee tournament the president reported that the Hawke's Bay championships would he held in Waipawa, also that steps were being taken to secure the North Island championships and that application had been made through the Hawke's Bay Association. The dates applied for were January 22 to 25, 1935. ft was resolved that the running of the club tournament should be left in tho hands of the general committee, ! and on the motion of Aliss d’Emden, it was decided that this tournament should commence earlier in the season to be concluded if possible before tbe'opcn tournament commenced. Considerable discussion then took place regarding the supply of after noon tea on the club days, many of those present considering that the system now in operation was not satisfactory in that it imposed too heavy a burden on many of the lady members. \ remit was then passed to go forward , to the general meeting of the club that tho n< ar. materials for afternoon teas should be supplied by the chib, the lady members to continue to attend to the service of same, and that one ot the male members of the club should be appointed each afternoon to attend to the afternoon tea fees. On tho motion of Mr E. W. Jull a hearty vote of thanks was moved to I th,, president and the secretary.
