Saturday’s Competitions MATCHES IN .HASTINGS . The football provided at Nelson Park. Hastings, last week was of a very high standard, and as the two winners of last week will meet on Saturday next a good exhibition of Rugby football should be witnessed. The games will be Celtic versus Hastings, on No. 1 ground, and Havelock versus M.A.C. Old Boys, on No. 2 ground. The Hastings team have not suffered defeat this season, neither have Celtic, but the latter weie having their first outing last Saturday, and by their performance against M.A.C. they :ye going to bo a tough proposition. The game should be very evenly contested. After this game it will be possible to form some idea of the respective strength of the Hastings teams in the competition. The game on No. 2 ground should also be very keenly fought. The M.A.C. boys are providing the bright open football that they were noted for in past years, and they are becoming very popular with the public. On their performance against Celtic last week they look the likely winners, but the Havelock team cannot be taken too lightly, as they also, prefer the open game, having a very promising set. of backs, and should provide M.A.C. with a very exciting and thrilling game. There will bo two junior games, commencing at 1.30 p.m., as follows; — Hastings versus Matahiwi, and H. 5.0.8. versus M.A.C. Old Boys.

MATCHES IN NAPIER

The matches to-morrow in Napier should provide thrills for the onlookers. Pirates, fresh from their victory last Saturday, are out to down Tec. Old Boys. This game will be played on No. I ground at 1.30 p.m. M. 8.0.8. and Eskview, both unbeaten so far this season, will meet on No. 1 ground, at 3 p.m. On No. 2 ground the Napier and Hastings H. 5.0.8. teams will meet at 3 p.m. Hastings Old Boys went close to defeating Hastings last Saturday. They have a good team, and it looks as though Napier Old Boys will be fully extended to get their names on the points ladder.
