ROAD CLASSIFICATION
Hawke’s Bay Highways When tho Hawke’s Bay County Council holds its meeting at Napier on April 16 the engineer will bring down a report upon the classification of main highways—that is to say, the fixing ot the load which the highways shall carry. Roads are classified according to the regulations under the headings of 1, 2, 3 and 4. No. 1 allows a load of 11) tons on two axles; No. 2 8 tons; No 3, 6}; No. 4,4 j. Once the roads are classified vehicles carrying loads exceeding the specified weight are liable to bring upon their owners certain legal penalties as the result of proceedings which may bo taken.
