WAIPAWA CLUB’S AFFAIRS
NEXT MEETING AT HASTINGS APPLICATION TO BE MADE Moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet at the annual meeting of the Waipawa County Racing Club the president, Mr W. J. Wood, said that everything possible was done to ensure the last race meeting proving successful. but i‘ was impossible to stand up against the had weather which had been experienced by the club over a number of years. As a further economy the secretary had offered to accept a reduction of his salary to £3O, with the proviso that if the next meeting is successful it will be reviewed. It would, the president thought, be unwise to reduce the stake money any further. The only way he could see of the club reducing its indebtedness was to hold another meeting on the Hastings course. He felt pretty certain that they could secure the sanction of the Racing Confer ence for this.
Officers for the year were elected as under:—President, Mr W. A. Tod; vicepresident, Mr W. J. Wood; treasurer, Mr G. Taylor: auditor, Mr F. Holt; hon. surgeon, Dr. F. W. B. South; veterinary surgeon, Mr A. Brodie; stewards, Messrs A. E. -Tull, W. H. Rathbone. W. I. Lintbrick, R. W. Bond, ,T. M’Cartin, O Upton, T. IV. Wills, C. H. Critchley, IL S. Rathbone, F. Staines, T. Colquhoun.
Mr J. Britten was elected a member. On the motion of Mr AV. H. Rathbone the retiring president was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks for his ser vices over a number of years. At a meeting of the committee held subsequently the recommendation of the annual meeting to apply for permission to race at Hastings was approved.
