The third day of the autumn meeting of the A.J.C. was held at Randwick in fine weather. The track was in excellent condition. Chatham gave further proof of his being the beet miler in Australia by decisively defeating Kuvera and Rogilla. Golden Wings finished sixth. Great Legend caused a surprise by winning the Champagne Stakes. Sir John did not flatter his supporters. Peter Pan had an easy victory in the Cumberland Plate after Oro had tried to steal the race. Silver Scorn, always a good way from the leaden, failed at the finish. The prize money for the Cumberland Plate will be reduced from £lOOO to £5OO owing to the condition that the race must be run in 3,35 or under, Today’s race was so ridiculously slow. 3.395, that the first prize, instead of being £775, automatically drops to £387 10/-. Nine started. Arimanes ww the early leader from Limbo and Master Oolin, but commencing the last half mile these three dropped out of the running.
