PASSINGS FREQUENT

Store Cattle Sale ENTRY OF 1100 HEAD Passings were the rule rather than the exception in the store cattle section at Stortford Lodge yesterday, when an entry of 1100 head was offered. The quality of the entry was mixed, there being a large number of poorer sorts included. Demand was lair, with less inquiry for light and illbred cattle. The market was generally weaker, although a few good lines of cattle sold quite well, but compared with the rates that have been ruling on this section of tiie market for some weeks past, yesterday's sale indicated a slackening inquiry for stores. Some of the entries and prices paid, from which an impression of the condition of the market may be obtained, were as follow; — A line of 103 3J-yr P.A. steers, fairly grown and store conditioned, passed out at £3 15/-. Medium-framed and store conditioned, a pen of 30 Hereford 3J-yr steers carrying store condition, passed at £3 10/-. A bid of £3 15/- failed to secure a pen of 88 Hereford 2j-yr steers, wellgrown and store-conditioned. In from Te Mahanga, a pen of 82 P.A. 3J-yr steers, in good order and fairly grown, passed at £4 18/6. A Wairoa draft of Hereford 3J-yr steers, fairly framed and store-condi-tioned, passed at £4 15/-. A line of 35 store-conditioned Hereford cows, medium-franied, realised £2 15/-. Down from the Nuhaka district and offered on account of Mr Stewart Symes, a line of 34 good P.A. bullocks, carrying store to forward order, sold out at £5 14/-. Well-grown and in good store order, a line of P.A. and I’.A.-Hereford crossbred 3 J-yr steers, passed at £5 3/6. Store-conditioned and well-grown, a line pf 27 P.A. 3|-yr steers realised £4 18/6. Symes, comprising 3J-yr steers and 4-yr bullocks in good order, passed at £5 5/-. A mixed pen of 35 dehorned crossbred steers, carrying store condition, made £2 2/-.
