CYCLONE EFFECTS

FLOODS AROUND PERTH 19 Inches of Rain Falls FOOD SUPPLIES VERY SCARCE By Telegrapu—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received 4, 1.45 p.m.) PERTH, April 4. The north-west coast is not yet free from cyclone effects. Further torrential rains, 19 inches in 14 hours, caused dangerous renewals of the floods in Onslow, Roeburne and other coastal areas. Many people at Roeburne were driven from the township, seeking safety in the hills. From Carnarvon to Brgome. a distance of 815 miles, all rivers are flooded. Food supplies at Onslow are low but the motorship Loolinda is expected to send supplies ashore. A cable from Hobart says that nearly an inch of rain has fallen on Lake Margaret in the last 24 hours but the Mount Lyell mine was unable to resume operations owing to shortage of water in the lake.
